Sweet, steep cinder cone and lava flow 25 miles north of town. The rim is laden with huge volcanic bombs. The sideslopes approach 45 degrees and are very loose with cindery debris. The whole family made the halfway point. I made the summit and skiid down on the scree. Awesome.

One year in and I have no complaints about the move to Flagstaff.
Spent all day Saturday at Science in the Park explaining to all who would listen why geology is such an awesome thing to know about. Here I am pointing out a key spot where I once fell down in the Grand Canyon.
